Spykiller sucks
Mar. 6th, 2004 02:22 amWhy? Not because it's a bad program. It's actually quite good. But it can't find the parasite program that's causing pop-up ads for me.
It sucks because it scans my computer all on its own on a regular basis. Not that this is a bad thing mind you, but if it finds something it warns you that you're in dire danger of self-implosion... well, maybe not, but it insists that you to click the button to make the bad stuff go away.
The problem is, the bad stuff doesn't go away, and thus Spykiller finds bad stuff every single time it scans. That's like once or twice a day I think... basically every time I come back to the computer it's flashing a warning "Kill it now! Kill it now! It's a bad evil program I tells you! EVIL!"
Well anyway, it did kill off a half dozen things that even AdAware couldn't see, but in the end I spent $40 on a program and I still haven't solved my problem. I'm begining to wonder if I shouldn't just save the important files and wipe the hard drive. It's not that the pop-ups are nasty or anything... quite often it's an ad for E-Bay. But it annoys me to no end that they continually pop up and I can't get rid of them.
