miko2I was finally able to contact the dentist today, and I have an appointment for next Tuesday at 11 am. That's better than 10 am anyway. ^_^ Now, if they do the crown thing he said it would take two days, so I'm hoping that means two consecutive days, because correct me if I'm wrong, but two days after next Tuesday would be Thursday April 8 and that's Norwescon right?
Oh well. I could go look it up and not be a complete lazy bastard. Ah there we go... Norwescon 27 is April 8-11, 2004. So there.
I finished two stories on Sunday. Technically one of them only needed a few paragraphs to complete... but it's needed those few paragraphs for several years. I am soooooooooo lazy. But now it's complete. And the other story is finished despite the fact that I don't really like it, and it mostly happens to be a really long and boring story built around the same basic concept as my half-page short-short "Holy War". Which was a much better story. But whatever.
Since then I've been working hard on "Restoring the Lady" which by the way is my so-called "Sahvet" story, but really Sahvet only appears in two or maybe three scenes. It's mostly my third Willamina Ramani story, and it's very nearly finished, just a few scenes left that are half-written and need to be completed. I tend to write that way... jotting down sections of dialogue that will later form the central part of a scene, but I only come back to flesh it all out at a much later point.
I haven't played very much Toontown in the meantime. This might not be important to anyone, except Julie just started playing and now it's like I'm avoiding her. But she also told me recently that I needed to work on my Tai-Pan stories so I'm sure she's cool with that.
I came home last night and I wasn't feeling well at all... still got a fever and my tooth was hurting quite a bit, so I went to bed early. Got up early, still felt sick but by the time I finally left for work I felt better, and my tooth hasn't been as bad. I worked in my story but became frustrated when it came to setting two scenes inside Redshift Sue's club and her office/apartment upstairs. For one thing, I don't remember if it's ever been stated that she has a private suite upstairs, or if I just invented that in my head. I suppose I might have her cis in my source book but when I flipped through it quickly I didn't see anything. Word to those in power: Whenever we get around to publishing the new source book (and yes, I'm well aware that I haven't updated my character information sheets in many years, and I don't even have ones for some of my characters like Willamina) we need to be able to sort the character sheets by ship... because there are too many of them to look through otherwise. Plus it's nice to just flip through the Iktome characters only when you're doing an Iktome story.
I probably need to reread through Gene's Velvet Kigeri stories because I don't remember if Redshift Sue's is mentioned or described in any of them... but what I really need to reread is Chuck's "The Ghost of Her Smile" which of course takes place inside Redshift Sue's (and in the access corridors behind the club). Unfortunately as it turns out, I don't have that issue anymore. I sorted all of my Tai-Pan issues (again) and I've turned up even more duplicate copies of some of the earlier issues, but I'm missing 27 and 28, and I don't know where issue 34 is, which probably never made it to my collection and is lost somewhere in the house. I mean, I'm pretty sure I got a copy when it was published.
So anyway... yeah. Hoping to get this story finished soon. I like this one a lot better than Angel... I think there's some good scenes and characterization here, and a good plot. I think it works.
Last night as I was drifting off to sleep, I started thinking about how much fun it would be to have Willamina's parents come to visit. Not fun for her, mind you. But I'm going to resist writing any of that. ^_^ Too many other things to finish up first.
