So I went down to Longview on Sunday. I bought $20 gift cards for my nephew and two nieces. My nephew isn't into Yu-Gi-Oh anymore... not into Digimon or Pokemon of course... the new thing is Neopets. But it's another collectible card game thing. I thought neopets was just an online game site for kids, but they're no fools, they're branching out into whatever makes money for them.

The fireworks at Longview were pretty good. My niece Blair hid her face half of the time because she was scared. My younger niece Ella climbed into my lap, played with my glasses, did everything but pay attention to the fireworks. Brenda had bought some small glowy sticks, the kind you can form into loops; she'd bought 3 at Walmart for .48 cents each, but these were the small kind that made a loop the size of a bracelet, and she realized she should have bought a lot more. Austin wanted to hook them all together in a single large loop, which was cool except only one kid could play with it. Then someone came by selling large ones for $2 each, so I bought three of them. I wasn't allowed to play with them of course. :D

I took Tuesday off instead of my birthday, since we had Monday off already. I used a Target gift card my sister had given me and bought a bunch of stuff for the apartment. I excavated my bedroom windowsill, which has had a bunch of books stacked there forever, gathering dust. I put the old television that I never use in the garaga and that freed up shelf space to stack all of the books in the windowsill. and now the sill is clean. I bought a new lamp to replace the swing-arm lamp that's been broken forever. This one requires a special type of bulb so I'll need to go find one. I bought a new fan to replace the one by my bed that's broken. I bought a cabinet that I'm going to assemble and put in the bathroom above the toilet to hold my books... I also bought a new rug for the bathroom, and most importantly, cleaned the bathroom. I even got Chuck to fix the toilet which was broken so that it would never quite shut off, and he replaced the broken toilet seat and fixed the overhead lamp... so after cleaning and mopping the bathroom looks pretty nice. Not so the rest of the house.

Anyway... worked all day on my birthday, but it was payday. ^_^

My new computer in my bedroom which I've had maybe half a year or so needs new fans. The side fan is noisy, and the cpu fan is not working well. Mostly I'm leaving it shut off because of that.

New music: Candy Rock by Shonen Knife, Sanctuary by Charlie Musselwhite, What's Wrong With You by Robert Belfour, Song to Fly by Yohko Kanno, Spending Time At The Borderline by Ozma, Blow It Out Your Ass It's Veruca Salt, and probably something else I'm forgetting about. I got a dvd of Skip James, Bukka White, Howlin' Wolf, Son House, and Rev. Pearly Brown all singing at the Newport Folk/Blues festival in 1962. Very cool.
