miko2Today (meaning yesterday) was not only Kehf's birthday but my coworker Jim's birthday, which nobody remembered, including him. He said he was writing a check when he realized what day it was. Anyway, we decided to do a potluck on Friday to make up for it.
I watched the total eclipse of the moon through the window above my desk as I worked. Very cool. At the same time, Boston broke their 86-year-old curse and won the world series. Coincidence?
...well, of course. But it's also mostly coincidence that they hadn't won a world series since trading away Babe Ruth in 1918. But since curses and the like are made up of coincidences linked together in our heads, I will always remember that the moon was in darkness at the time Boston finally broke their curse. It must mean something, yes?
I finished reading Negima #3 tonight. I'm starting to like this series a lot. It does put the author's inner pervert a bit more on display than his previous series Love Hina did, but he's very good at creating interesting and sympathetic characters and spinning interesting plots with many silly twists and turns.
Before that I spent the last several days reading Tuxedo Gin 2-8. I tend to let series stack up and then read several books at once, unless it's a series that I absolutely MUST read immediately. Currently, things that I read as soon as I get them include: Usagi Yojimbo, Neotopia, Battle Angel Alita: Last Order, Ah! My Goddess, Cheeky Angel, Negima, and probably Tuxedo Gin now too, it's a very fun series.
Other things I picked up last week include XXXholic & Dolls (both are Clamp series), the latest Japanese Ah! My Goddess volume, and the first dvd of Fruits Basket, which was a lot of fun, I need to get more of that. Also I've been watching the third dvd of Invader Zim. It's the last one, so I'm trying to make it last.
