miko2: Ranma disguised as a schoolgirl to fool Ryoga (sleeping giant)

I watched Fellowship of the Ring Sunday night. It was the short version, which means it was only 3 hours or so. I had planned to watch Two Towers as well, but it was 3 am when the first movie was done so I went to bed.

Monday I watched one of the specials on my Two Towers box set, then listened to the Two Towers soundtrack on my way to work. On my lunch break I went to Fred Meyers and picked up the Return of the King soundtrack, the only one of the three I didn't have yet.

I also picked up Shrek 2. It was just out, and the cashier said that I got a free bag of M&Ms, or Twinkies, or a free pizza with the dvd. I said cool. Then he tried to convince me to run over to the grocery section of the store and come back with my free pizza, because he had to ring it up right then and there. Well, it was one of those cheapo Tontino's pizzas, and so I said forget it, I'm in a hurry. But the concept of "hurry" didn't seem to penetrate his feeble brain, because he absolutely had to run around and try to find me some free M&Ms, and after he'd come to the conclusion that they were all out he handed me a small package of two twinkies instead. They were Shrek twinkies with green filling. The whole concept was kinda gross, so I gave them to my coworker Jim.

I listened to the third soundtrack on the way home. At night I watched the Two Towers. By which I mean, I watched the first disc. This was the extended version and the first disc wasn't over until 4 pm (Mondays are always busy so I got home pretty late, 1:30 or so), so after that I went to bed.

I watched some more Two Towers specials Tuesday afternoon before work, then I listened to more LotR soundtracks driving to work and back. For some reason I felt like I'd seen some of the Two Towers specials before, although I was certain I hadn't watched any of my boxed set until now.

Tuesday night (Wednesday morning) I watched the rest of Two Towers. And then some more specials/making of stuff.

Wednesday afternoon I watched more specials. One of them talked about how they'd moved the whole encounter with Saruman in the aftermath of the fall of Isengard to the begining of the third movie. I decided that I wanted to see that right away, so I popped in the third movie (which I never saw in the theaters, and had not yet watched on dvd because I'd been waiting for months to find the right time to watch everything in order).

But of course, they'd cut Saruman out of the third film, something I had known. He'll reappear in the extended version. For now, I watched almost an hour of the third film, then went to work. Watching just part of the film right before going to work wasn't really a smart decision, I REALLY wanted to watch the rest.

Of course, the "short" ie theatrical release version of the Return of the King is still 3 hours and 20 minutes, so it's probably a good thing I'd already watched 45 minutes of it, because when I came home and watched the rest of it, it wasn't finished until 4 am.

And then I watched two of the specials that came with the third film. Each of the theatrical releases comes with a second disc of special behind the scenes stuff... all of which is also packaged with the boxed set later. So that's why some of the Two Towers making of specials were so familiar -- I HAD seen them before, as part of what came with my theatrical release version of the movie.

Anyway I was up until 5 am that morning. Later on Thursday I got up and watched the last of the specials that came with Return of the King.

I still have about a disc's worth of specials to watch from my Two Towers boxed set. Not to mention, should I ever really want to there are multiple commentary tracks for each film. But it's so exhausting to watch three massively long films in a row that I don't really plan to watch them again with the commentary tracks on anytime soon. ^_^

Tonight I'm going to play some computer games or something, and avoid watching any LotR stuff.

Maybe.

Or I can watch Shrek 2.
