Dec. 5th, 2004 09:57 pmVarious projects accomplished this weekend:
1. Got some Christmas shopping done.
2. Was going to get my car's oil changed. I supposedly have 4 free oil changes from my Chrysler dealer as part of the deal when I got my car -- although I'm waiting to see if they still agree on that when I show up for the first one. Anyway, I went there Thursday late, but they close at 4 pm on Saturday and are closed all Sunday. My fault for watching college football for three hours before I got around to doing anything. So that's one thing not accomplished yet... I can get up early Monday I suppose.
3. Bought stuff for chex mix and made said chex mix. I think it turned out okay. ^_^ Usually with this stuff you have to wait a few days for the flavor to kind of seep in. Cure it, I guess.
4. Played CoH for half a day. Well, that wasn't a goal per se, but what the heck, it's what I did Saturday evening.
5. Watched the last dvd of Fruits Basket. That's right, I have easy goals. ^_^ What a cool series though. There's a character who only appears in one episode on the fourth dvd that is a Sky character. You know, cute, glasses, spunky, and she wears cosplay style costumes all the time. Sky character all the way.
6. Today I did laundry. That's an accomplishment. Three loads even.
7. Watched more Inu-Yasha dvds. I'm slowly catching up.
8. Did some shopping, started a stew that I plan to leave in the crock pot overnight and eat tomorrow. I'll take some to work I guess. Right now I just have some stew meat along with a packet of stew seasonings, some bay leaves, and a guiness stout in there, but I have carrots and potatos and celery and onions and mushrooms to add. And garlic. I don't follow recipes when I cook like this, but I keep it pretty basic so it should turn out good.
9. I was craving breakfast food all day.
virusfox didn't help with his entries about craving pancakes. Those sounded good, but more than anything I wanted an omelete. So I made one. I used four eggs, milk, red bell pepper, sweet onion, a roma tomato, some mushrooms, and montery jack cheese. As usual, I didn't succeed in getting a whole omelete to the plate. I managed to fold it over pretty nicely but it disintegrated when I tried to move it from the pan to the plate. But I don't care, it tasted great. I had two sausages along with it, and some strawberry-orange-banana juice.
I've also been craving a sort of sweet salsa that Cynthia at work made a year or so ago (and I got the recipe from her and made several more times). I remember it was simple to make, but I've lost the recipe, so I'll have to ask her if she still has it. I recall that it had corn, black beans, tomatos, fresh chunks of avacado, and I think vinegar or something else -- it was almost more salad-like than salsa-like. It was really good though.
And I think I'll make brownies tonight.
