That's kind of the point of having this thing isn't it?

I decided on Saturday to visit Half Price Books, at least partly to get out of the house and do something besides play computer games or watch tv. I really should have stayed home and wasted my day, it would have been much less expensive in the long run. ^_^

I was doing okay, picked up a few cds, put a few more back. I found a Whiskeytown cd (a country-rock band fronted by Ryan Adams before he went solo), found two Iona cds (celtic folk group), found a Dance Hall Crashers cd (ska group, very fun!). I wandered upstairs and found a manga graphic novel to buy. It was as I come back down the stairs that I really got in trouble. Sometime recently, Half Price (at least the one in the U-District) has got a whole bunch of anime dvd's in. They were mostly 12.98 to 14.98, and several were titles I liked or collected. I started digging through them, realizing that I couldn't spend the kind of money I really wanted to.

Anyway, as it turned out a lot of what they had I already owned, but there were many things I'd like to have tried or bought. I managed to hold myself to just 1 dvd -- Project A-Ko 2 -- and got out of there having only spent a little over $40, which I probably couldn't afford to spend at the time.

Then I went back to my car, parked on the far side of the block since it was early evening and the streets and lots were full. I discovered I'd parked in a restricted residential zone (restricted after 6 pm) so I had a $44 ticket on my windshield. That really kind of pissed me off, although if I'd read the signs and checked my watch I would have known not to park there, but $44 for a parking infractin is pretty steep.

So I spent twice as much money as I thought I had.

Anyway, Tuesday was payday, I deposited my check and decided to spend some money. I've been pretty poor for the last six weeks since Norwescon, so it feels good to have money again. ^_^ I stopped at Office Max and bought a 3-hole punch, then bought a couple of things at Cash & Carry, then drove over to Half Price Books.

You see, they had a 4-dvd set of the television series Maze for $64, which I think is a pretty good price. I probably should have had them hold it on Saturday, but anyway it was still there. I got that, and a Trigun dvd I hadn't bought yet. I had to leave the other stuff there -- I really don't want to spend all my money on dvds just becase they're cheap. But they had an Ursei Yatsura dvd, one of the Nadia dvds, Rhea Gallforce, several Jubei-Chan, Blue Submarine, a few Tenchi Universe dvds... too bad that the three Card Captor Sakura dvds they had are the three I already own. ^_^

Then I bought Dungeon Siege, just to round out my day of spending. Cool game, but it locks up on my computer MUCH faster than EQ. I can play EQ a full night, and maybe not lock up at all, or at most twice in a long evening of playing. Dungeon Siege locked up twice in under an hour... so I may not be able to play it on this machine.

But then, I'm ready to buy a new machine sometime this week. ^_^
