May. 12th, 2005 02:32 amSo. Having read about it on the Seattle Times website yesterday, I went to Amazon.com and ordered a copy of the soundtrack for the musical "Spamalot". I don't know if Gene or anyone else has heard about this or talked about it -- I sometimes miss things so maybe he's written all about it -- but Spamalot is a musical written by Eric Idle and John Du Prez that centers around Camelot and borrows quite a bit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail (but also includes a reworked "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life" from Life of Brian, and even includes a small bit of The Lumberjack Song).
The cast includes Hank Azaria, David Hyde Pierce, and Tim Curry as King Arthur. I haven't listened to any of it yet, but do I really need to? You know I'll like it! ^_^
Besides, I need a new musical soundtrack to listen to. I can't alternate between "Wicked" and "Avenue Q" forever.
While I was thinking about musicals, I decided to order Hedwig and the Angry Inch. This lead to the typical diliema: Original Cast Recording, or Movie Soundtrack? From what I could see both were good but the Movie Soundtrack packed a little more punch. Anyway, that's the one I'd be most familiar with, since I've seen the movie and not the stage production.
But there was also "Wig In A Box" which is the ubiquitous covers cd. Included here are Cyndi Lauper, Bob Mould, The Breeders, They Might Be Giants, and doing the heavy-hitting number "Angry Inch" you have one of my favorite local groups Sleater-Kinney, with Fred Schneider (former lead singer of the B52's) on vocals.
Um... not sure what that's gonna sound like, acutally. But I couldn't pass up something with covers by Sleater-Kinney, The Breeders, and They Might Be Giants, so I ordered a copy.
However I'm still addicted to Tori Amos's The Beekeeper. Over the weekend I realized that while I considered myself a big Tori fan, I actually didn't own anything she'd produced in the last ten years. I have only her first three cds, and about a dozen cd singles... and The Beekeeper which I picked up on Saturday. So I have some of her other cds on order now. See, the good thing about ordering stuff that's been out a while is that I can find used copies on Amazon for just a few bucks or so. ^_^
Comics I picked up today include: Here is Greenwood vol 4, Cheeky Angel vol 6, and Tsubasa vol 5 or 6 or whatever the new one is, I forget. Must go read.
Network Update: my internet connection has been nearly perfect the last couple of days. Although I haven't been online much so I'm not 100% convinced yet that I've solved all of my net connection problems. And I still have to figure out why all my computers can't see each other...
