Back to Work...
Jul. 5th, 2005 02:13 pmI spent the weekend in Longview and had a good time. I never saw my one brother-in-law which is a good thing. We had fun at the 4th of July event down by the lake, my niece got to try all the rides even the rock climb which we didn't think she was old enough to do, but she had great fun climbing part way up and then coming down again (she wouldn't rapell, she'd just let go and spin around as the cable let her down slowly).
I bought my fresh fruit cake from A Piece Of Cake and everyone liked it. I also made some corn/black bean salsa down there, everyone liked that too.
When I got home last night Tom wanted to go see Howl's Moving Castle, so we did. It was what you would expect from a Miyazaki movie -- wonderful fun. Tom tried to tell me afterwards that the "good thing" about Pixar leaving Disney is that Disney will take Miyazaki's movies more seriously now. I wish. This wasn't an art house release but they didn't bother to promote this movie AT ALL, and it is 1,000% better than any of the crap Disney puts out on their own. If you ask me, the best thing about Pixar leaving Disney is that Disney can't screw up anything Pixar does in the future. In other words, Pixar leaving is not a bad thing because Disney (with Eisner in charge) sucks. :)
