miko2The way that you pick a name in Second Life, you type whatever first name you like, then you have to pick a last name from a list. It's a very big list so there are many many options. As last names get used, they rotate them out, so that only a certain number of people have the same last name as you, and when the name's gone nobody else can ever pick that last name again. So it's actually kind of fun to run into someone with the same last name as you... there aren't many of them out there, so it's like running into a long lost cousin.
A lot of people are very clever with their naming, finding a good last name and matching a first name to it. So, for example, people I know include "Cannibis Puff", "CoCo Brocco" and "Demonizer Extraordinaire".
So just for fun I was looking through the list of names currently available. My first character has the last name of Oz. Naturally, when I first signed up and saw that option I took it. ^_^ Oz is no longer on the list, so the few people named Oz in the game are all that there ever will be. As for my second character, her last name is Minogue, and that name is still available. I've made friends with two other Minogues in the game, and met a couple of others as well.
So I was looking through the available names, and I saw that "Melville" is one of the last names you can currently choose. For a brief moment I wanted to make a Chuck Melville and wander aroun in the game with a baseball cap on with a handlebar moustache and mutton chops. I managed to resist doing that though, hehe. Nilsson was also available... I could be Chris Nilsson, and wear a top hat. ^_^
Well anyway that was a pretty pointless post, but what else am I going to say? I went to work, I came home. It was a day. ^_^
