I am writing this from Mike's computer (or is it Gene's computer? Who knows?) in their hotel room at the Hyatt Regency Woodbrige hotel in Schaumburg. They don't know I'm here yet. It's a nice hotel, and a nice room. ^_^

So far, I'm probably spending about $40 to park my car at a park and ride place near Sea-Tac, and it was a $45.00 taxi ride to the hotel ($50.00 with a tip). I couldn't find a better way to get to the hotel, but since Gene is Guest of Honor and I'm sharing his room, I'm not sure staying at the hotel is going to cost me anything... so I can afford to spend money getting here.

It was a long flight, and a bumpy landing, but I'm very glad I paid a little extra for a direct flight with Alaska Airlines. They're still one of the best in the business.

On the flight I listened to one of the many cds that I burned earlier this week for the trip. I probably won't actually even listen to all of them, but whatever. I read "Terra Obscura 2" which is a graphic novel set in an alternative Tom Strong universe (Alan Moore stuff). It was pretty amusing. Then I read "Smax", the graphic novel based on two characters from Moore's Top Ten series (Smax and Toybox). Now this was absolutely hilarious, highly reccomended to anyone who liked the Top Ten stuff or who just enjoys funny bizaare fantasy stories with lots of in-jokes.

Then I read a bit from "Thud" by Terry Pratchett, which was even funnier.

And now I'm at the con, assuming one is going on already. From what I saw downstairs, that's an affirmative.

Later!
