At My Parent's Place

miko2Which kinda sucks because neice #2 wants to crawl all over me and can't stand for me to be alone for even a minute... while nephew #1 just wants me to stay out of the back room (my bedroom while I'm here) so that he can play his video games. Meanwhile in the front room they like to put on FoxNews and leave it on even when three kids are all talking at the same time over one or two adults, so that nobody can hear anything anyway. But I guess I don't need to hear anything -- this hour's message is: non-governmental border patrol good, illegal immigrants bad.
My dad was at Walmart at 4:40 am to try and get one of their cheap laptop computers, but they were all gone before he got close to the front of the line. At least he wasn't involved in a fistfight like people were in Florida, and he wasn't trampled in a mad rush once the doors opened. Actually their laptop seemed like an okay deal, low on memory (256k) and it didn't say what video card it had (cheapo onboard video I'm sure) but it was a fairly powerful processor (AMD Sempron 2800 I think) so I'm sure it would be a serviceable word processor/internet connection for years to come. I have no idea if it came with AOL though. ^_^
I went with my sister and neice #1 to Fred Meyers. The goal was to buy teddy bears, which will be tossed out onto the ice at an upcoming Portland Winterhawks game (minor league ice hockey), to later be given for charity. Sounds like fun actually. ^_^ Along the way I found a caterpillar toy that my other sister had described as a good present for neice #3, and got it on sale. Woo! Niece #2 could not understand why I'd bought a present for her younger sister for Christmas, but hadn't gotten her a present that she could have right now. I had to explain that I HAD a present for her already, but she couldn't have it until Christmas. She's only four, she doesn't really grasp the whole Christmas thing completely just yet... as far as she was concerned, I got her sister a present, and where was hers? Eh, kids. She forgot about it two minutes later, of course.
All my nieces want me to stay as long as possible... I want to get home so I can be alone as soon as possible. ^_^
