This just in: I own a lot of books.

Not just a lot of books. A ton of books. A massive amount of books. Way, waaaay too many books. I need to cull my collection, but that will have to wait until after I've moved because for now I'm just boxing everything up.

I own a lot of comics. Way, waaaay too many comics. There are not a lot of comics that I will probably ever go back and read again, and in many cases I already own collected manga/graphic novel volumes of the same comics, so I don't need the comics at all. But I still have them. I need to cull my collection.

I own a lot of tee shirts. In fact I own too many clothes period. I own way, waaaay too many clothes. I have jeans and shorts that I haven't even laid eyes on in maybe six or eight years, and shirts that I haven't worn in ten years. I have sweaters and jackets that I've never worn, ever. Why do I have so much clothing anyway? I own enough clothing for five people, and I'm talking enough for five to only have to do laundry maybe once a month. Which frankly, is pretty often in my case, I sometimes don't do laundry for a month and a half, two months at a time. Which partly explains why I have a lot of clothes, but doesn't explain why I have enough clothes to not do laundry for a full year (well, I don't have enough socks for a full year, and probably only enough shirts for 4-5 months, but otherwise...).

I own a lot of cds. But then, you can never have too many cds. ^_^ Cull my collection? Heaven forbid!

But basically I own more stuff than anybody has a right to own. It's probably no wonder I've been making good money for a few years, and for most of that time paying very little for rent, compared to most people, and yet I haven't managed to save that much.

Anyway I didn't box up anything last night, which was my first day of not boxing stuff up in more than two weeks. But one thing I did manage was to was to pull one of those instant crock pot packages from the freezer (one of the few things left in there) and put it in the crock pot to cook overnight. Creamy chicken pasta with peas and carrots, yum! (You add the pasta about 45 minutes before you're ready to eat).

The plan for the day was to watch the Seahawks, so having food ready worked very well. I was up well before the game started, of course, and I started boxing things up. I've been working my way into my bedroom, removing all of the books crammed into every corner there. After the game started I continued to box things up because I had too much nervous energy to just sit and watch the game.

Eventually I began some serious excavation of my bedroom, and excavation is the right word. Remember when I said I had jeans that I hadn't even laid eyes on in years? They were buried under a huge pile of clothing that was beneath my bed (remember that I have a bunk bed with lots of room to stuff junk beneath it). I had, I don't know, more than twenty pairs of jeans or pants down there, maybe even thirty pairs. At least the top eight or ten I've used in the last year, but below that were jeans I hadn't worn in a while, and below that were jeans I didn't even remember that I owned. Not to mention shorts, shirts, and other stuff.

So I've boxed up two or three boxes of clothing for Goodwill, and set them next to the pile of junk that Tom wants to get rid of. And I dug down until I got to the comic boxes and art books and other junk that has been buried beanth all that clothing for ten years.

Anyway, I've done a lot of boxing up today, and laundry, and watching the Seahawks win, yay! I found more stuff that I need to give away, like my entire collection of anime trading cards and animayhem cards. I should really dump a lot of my Japanese manga that I have English versions of too -- I want to dump the Ranma 1/2 Japanese manga at least. In one of the bathroom closets I still have all of my lead miniatures from my Dungeons and Dragons days, that I tried to give to Tom, but he's abandoned them. They include some very nice figurines, all of the Elfquest lead figures for example, but in the end I don't need them for anything, they just take up space. I have a bunch of figures that Alan left behind years ago too.

I just have a lot of junk, period. :p

Part of my problem is I rarely throw anything out. I mean when it comes to books, I literally own books that I bought when I was twelve. I'm especially bad about never getting rid of books, because who knows when you might want to read it again? Or when it might be useful as reference? But honestly, I own books that I'll never have a use for. I need to haul a few boxes of them away, after sorting through them.
