Today I eventually managed to drive to Ikea. I got the Billy 31.5 x 79.5 inch bookshelf, and a small basked to fit on one of the shelves to put knick knacks in (hmm... maybe my yo-yo's?). The bookshelf was heavy and unwieldy, but I managed to get it on a cart, and I wrestled it into my car. It just barely fit with the passenger seat folded down, and was pressing into my right arm as I drove home -- I had to reach beneath it to shift. But I got home all right and was able to carefully walk it corner to corner into the house. Now it's all assembled and in place with books and DVDs on it, and I'm feeling quite accomplished. ^_^
I also made a salad for dinner, and two more to take to work, and then made some hamburger helper and filled two tupperware containers of that to take to work too. And I did a load of dishes, took out the garbage, and did some more unpacking/straightening up. The place is still messy but it looks much better and it feels like home now. ^_^
I watched Ah! My Goddess vol 3 DVD (the new series) while I fixed dinner and assembled my bookshelf. I might watch the final Firefly episode later tonight, or I also picked up Pirates of the Carribean last week so I could watch that too. Saturday I bought two cds -- a double cd of Kay Starr's early work, which includes "Baby Me" and "Love With A Capital You" that were featured during the NPR interview last week, and also the Soundtrack for Firefly. I felt kind of guilty afterwards -- $45.00 is enough to buy me a low-end microwave. But it's the first music I've bought since the start of the new year!
I was also happy that I finally hammered out the first scene of my new Ian story, current title is "The Pilgrimage of Ian St. Ritz". I'm still actually working out the specifics of the plot. My original idea was that Ian hears about a Temple dedicated to science and goes to visit it, but that in itself is not a very compelling story plot. I have a better reason for him going there now, as those who were at Writer's Night and have heard the first scene know, but what happens on the way there and when he gets there is still being worked on. ^_^ I want to get another scene or two finished on it this week though, that's my goal for the week.
