Story Update Time
Mar. 1st, 2006 10:42 pmThe idea is that I have to have a finished Tai-Pan story in two weeks, counting from last Saturday.
Most recently I have worked on a Christmas story that I didn't really have finished before the December Christmas writer's night. I said I was going to finish it afterwards, but I haven't worked on it since December. After I got moved in to my new place I started an Ian St. Ritz story, currently titled "The Pilgrimage of Ian St. Ritz", and I managed to complete the first scene for February writer's night. I still plan to try and finish that in the next two weeks.
But something else caused me to come up with a whole new story involving a new character, and I've been working on that most of the week. For now, the story is called "Kismet", which is also the character's name. I have a lot of half-scenes written -- maybe half of the story in full, but no complete scenes yet. That's typically how I write though, write the dialogue that comes to me first, and later try to fill in and frame the scene. My idea began with a character who was a pirate Captain, and then was captured, and who eventually joins another pirate ship (the Iktome, presumably, although for the purposes of my story it doesn't really matter if it is or not). As I've developed the story, I've realized that the real tale is about why he left his village and why he'd rather be a pirate or a scavenger than ever return there.
FYI,
genebreshears wrote "FWIW" in my blog yesterday, and I was like, WTF? LOL. I mean, AFAIK, FWIW was an unknown acronym. ROFL! IMHO the over-use of acronyms is a SNAFU. Totally FUBAR. OTOH, WWJD? LMAO. Of course, YMMV, TYVM.
Beware the ROUS, FWIW. Or just STFU. ^_^
Well, that's all I could think of OTTOMH.
