Tarzan wasn't a ladies man
He'd just come along and scoop them up under his arm, like that
Quick as a cat in the jungle

Clark Kent, now there was a real gent
He would not be caught sitting around in no junglescape
Dumb as an ape, doing nothing

Superman never made any money
Saving the world from Solomon Grundy
And sometimes I despair the world will ever see another man like him

Hey pop, Supe had a straight job
Even though he could smash through any bank in the United States
He had the strength, but he would not

Folks said his family were all dead
Planet crumbled but Superman, he forced himself to carry on
Forget Krypton, and keep going

Superman never made any money
Saving the world from Solomon Grundy
And sometimes I despair the world will ever see another man like him

Tarzan was King of the Jungle, and Lord of all the Apes
But he could hardly string together four words
I Tarzan, You Jane

Sometimes, when Supe was stopping crimes
I bet that he was tempted to just quit and turn his back on man
And join Tarzan in the forest

But he stayed in the city
Kept on changing clothes in dirty old phone booths 'til his work was through
And he had nothing to do but go on home

Superman never made any money
Saving the world from Solomon Grundy
And sometimes I despair the world will ever see another man like him

Tarzan gets bad press. In the novels he was (eventually) an educated Englishman, known as Lord Greystoke of course. He could read and write English very well by the time he met Jane (self-taught, using the library his father left behind in the jungle), and afterwards learned to speak fluent English and French, and other languages as well. But all anyone remembers is "Me Tarzan, you Jane." FIrst impressions, you know. Superman's first impression for most is him saving people, Tarzan's first impression is kidnapping Jane and grunting "Me Tarzan, you Jane."

Yesterday I drove up to Frye's specifically to check out the anime dvd section. I was thinking I needed to find a new series to watch now that I was finished rewatching Card Captor Sakura. I saw Kodacha and realized that I didn't have the rest of the series yet. (I also realized that there were other series I need to complete -- specifically Chobits, but also Magical Arcade Abenoboshi, assuming I want to see more of it).

So I picked up volumes 3 and 4 of Kodacha. I wasn't positive that I didn't have #3 yet, but my instincts were right, I only had 1 & 2. Unfortunately when I opened up #3 it refused to play in my dvd player, so I suppose I'll need to take it back today and get a new one. Funimation is a pretty crappy company, I had problems with their other dvds too.

I drove over to the Renton Fred Meyer's and picked up some things -- groceries, and also more plastic storage bin stuff.

I cleaned up around the house a bit and, wonder of wonders, I found all of my missing mail and checkbooks in one of the rubbermaid totes in the bedroom that I thought only had clothing in it (and I also thought I'd looked in it before). My new checks came yesterday too, so I didn't really need the old checks, but it's nice to know where they are. The new checks showed my apartment number as "M" so I had to call the check company and reorder.

I did dishes and laundry, and watched some television. Since I couldn't watch Kodacha I decided to start rewatching Azumanga Daioh. I suppose the series starts off slowly, but it still boggles my mind that [livejournal.com profile] dolphinchatter didn't like it, he says that he likes funny light-hearted series, and this is one of the best I've seen in several years, brilliant character-driven comedy. (And also some slapstick style comedy, especially where cute kittens with huge toothy mouths are concerned). I don't think I'll be able to reccomend anything else to [livejournal.com profile] dolphinchatter now, if he didn't like Azumanga Daioh then I have no idea what he might like.

I got some writing on my story yesterday morning but not as much as I should have. But at least I restored the partial scene that had disappeared when I lost power late Friday night.
