...stumbling through life in a foggy haze, not able to focus on much of anything.

Well at least I felt that way earlier today, or last night, or something. I was trying to get Christmas shopping done. I was trying to bake a bunch of cookies to give to people at work. I was trying to get my e-mail up and running, pay my bills, fix my toilet, etc. etc. I had to go to a Christmas party, and I hadn't bought anything for anybody. Well, that's not entirely true, I had a present for Mike, but since I didn't have anything for anyone else I didn't bother to wrap it, which I didn't have time to do anyway.

Plus I have movies on dvd to watch, laundry to do, Spirited Away to catch on Sunday, or Two Towers because Tom is desperate to see it and naturally I want to too, and all sorts of other things that I want to or need to do.

I managed to get a little shopping done before the party. Bought my nephew a Yu-Gi-Oh tin box thing, which are ultra rare and impossible to find and are marked up $40 to $45, limited edition stuff with rare and special cards or whatever and all of that. I figured I was his only hope to ever get one, so I bought it when I saw it at Gary's Games. Later I found out that my comic shop had finally got some in, but most of them sold in two days, he only had three of them left.

I hit Toytropolis at the Northgate Mall, and after a long time debating, I got my niece (Blair) a dress up bunny of some sort, and an extra outfit for her. Blair said she wanted "everything" which really means that she'll be happy to get anything, but realistically I figure a 4 year old girl like her is more into dolls. I never know what kind of dolls might be cool. Last year I got her some kind of floppy stuffed dress up doll and some outfits at Top Ten Toys. For her birthday I got her a really cool stuffed pony (it was so cool that my sister told me she needed one too -- and then I had to get one for myself ^_^ ). So anyway, dolls are cool, but since I really can't get into dolls enough to figure out what would be a cool doll to have, I went with the extremely cute stuff rabbit, which is a companion to a stuffed bear that has a cute name and a huge line of clothes and stuff. Anyway the outfits were ultra-cute, the type of stuff that Card Captor Sakura might wear. I don't know dolls, but I know anime cute.

I had more plans to go more places, but I ran out of time. Got some candy and stuff. Going to assemble boxes of candy and cookies for my friends at work.

So anyway, the party at Kristin's was wonderful, but I felt guilty getting so many nice gifts from people and not having anything to give (although I did bring a gift for David and Kristin's son). One thing I have to say, some of the gifts I got were especially cool. Not that it's a contest or anything, but there's a certain art to getting a present for a friend that is something they really like that they never would have thought to ask for. That's not something you can always manage to do, but when you manage it that's very cool. ^_^ Gene and Mike got me a book containing a Mark Twain story that went unpublished until 2001. There's a long introduction explaining why, and obviously it's not going to be one of his better works, but still, very cool to read something of his that few have got to read until now, and cool illustrations.

And J'wyl got me a very cool dragon knotwork pendant. I would never have thought to ask for something like that, but I really like it. She knows I like celtic knotwork stuff because I habitually wear a celtic knotwork cross... and she likes celtic stuff and dragons.

I got nice presents from just about everyone though. Thanks to you all. ^_^

So after the party I went home and played EQ.

My mom sent me an e-mail and said that Austin (nephew) was looking forward to me buying a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh card packs and wrapping them up and hiding them all over the tree like I did last year. I'm like, dude, I just spent $45.00 on that stupid tin can collector thing. It's not going to happen.

So today I got up to do more shopping, and first thing I do is go to my comic shop, and bought some Yu-Gi-Oh cards. =/ I only bought 2 packs, but my comic dealer tossed in 2 more of the Japanese ones for free. He's cool.

Then I drove out to Redmond to hit the British Pantry, to get some Mushy Peas for my brother in law. No idea what he sees in the stuff, but you know, he's from Manchester.

I hit Uwajamaya and picked up a couple of graphic novels for myself, and some more candy.

Got home, did some laundry, then Tom and I went to see Two Towers. It rocked.

Afterwards it was 2 am, and I started making cookies. Did a batch of snickerdoodles and a double batch of peanutbutter cookies. It's 5 am now. I was planning to do some more, like tollhouse cookies, shortbread, no-bake "crap" cookies, but you know, it's getting late. I also want to watch some of my movies, but who knows if I'll find the time.

Anyway, that's my life. Too busy to think. But I feel more accomplished now that I managed some cookies.
