Miraculous Things
Mar. 20th, 2003 02:25 pmI burned my hand yesterday. I had placed some hot & sour microwavable soup in the microwave. It said 2-3 minutes, and our microwave is small so I went for 3. Then as soon as I heard the ding I went over and tried to remove it very carefully, because it was very very hot.
But the bowl tipped and spilled hot soup all over my hand.
I wiped it off quickly, but I was certain I'd burned my entire palm pretty badly. Then Sandy offered some cream she had in a tube... Sandy has all kinds of miracle herbal holistic medicines, and I tend to make fun of them but I've also found that a lot of them actually seem to work. Because of her, I'm now convinced that echanicea and goldenseal are good things to take to combat a cold.
This was some cream with I don't know what in it, not aloe like a lot of people seem to expect, but balanced water and other stuff that didn't sound like real medecine.
My hand was already very red and looked like it might start to blister. I rubbed on Sandy's medicine and iced it, and applied her medicine two or three more times during the evening and continued to ice my hand (part of the time, since I need to type to do my job). Anyway within hours my hand looked perfectly normal although it still hurt quite a bit for most of the evening. Today I can't even tell that anything happened yesterday. :) It looks and feels completely normal!
Whatever that stuff was that Sandy had, it seems to work very well. :)
