I find it immensely amusing that Spinal Tap songs can be found on two compilations that otherwise contain music from bands that are not actually made up. One is "Sleighed -- Other Side of Christmas" which mostly contains Christmas parodies or otherwise weird and unusual takes on Christmas music, so maybe it's understandable that Spinal Tap's "Christmas With The Devil" is included. But better yet, they have a track on "Hard Rock Cafe: 80's Heavy Metal", right alongside the likes of Great White, Judas Priest, Poison, Twisted Sister, and the like -- as if they belonged. And let's face it, they do. :)

I don't even know how I got on the subject of Spinal Tap... I was readhing about different bands on AMG and like I usually do, I drifted from one group to the next. I forget what got me started on glam metal bands -- no wait, I remember. It started when I went there and saw the new White Stripes cd on the front page, and I checked out their entry for the White Stripes, which led me to the Vines and the Hives, which led me to the Stooges, Iggy Pop's old band, and from there to the Melvins and the New York Dolls and from there to Twisted Sister and a bunch of glam metal bands... Poison, Quiet Riot, Hanoi Rocks, Warrant, Motley Crue, etc. These are largely bands that I don't like that much, I was never fond of all that soulless commercial 80's metal, but it's always interesting to read about their careers and all. And I kept clicking on links to related bands to read about them... and there was Spinal Tap. After all, they are in many ways the ULTIMATE 80's band.

So then I went to Amazon to read a little there, and found out about the two compilations they're on. Which amuses me to no end.

I also learned that the Rutles put out another cd of music a few years ago, in the vein of Anthology by the Beatles, only theirs was titled "Archaeology". :)

We live in cool times, where things get published despite widespread disinterest from major publishers. Two books that I loved back when they first came out were "In The Net of Dreams" and "When Dreams Collide" by Wm. Mark Simmons. These were light fantasy books, full of bad puns, very funny stuff with interesting characters and plot too. Simmons intended a third book to complete the trilogy, but it was never published, which I always found disappointing. But now, a small press publisher has released a one-volume collection of the first two books plus the third, previously unpublished book. And I can order it from Amazon. :) Happy, happy, joy, joy!

So... ran around today, bought His & Her Circumstances vol. 3 up in Lynnwood. I plan to make taco dip for the game session tomorrow... see, I accidentaly bought twice as much hamburger for tacos on Friday at work... it's a long story... well not really, it's short story but infinitely boring so I won't repeat it. Suffice it to say, I had hamburger, I had refried beans, I had an excuse to make taco dip.

Hmm... I may not have taco seasoning, however... whoops. I thought I had everything.

It is infinitely cruel to expect me to be at the game 3 hours earlier than I have to be anywhere during the week. If I'm not there on time, you'll know why.
