Weekend Review
Jun. 23rd, 2003 12:41 pmSaturday I managed to get to Writer's Night about an hour late. Among other things, I woke up late, and I stopped off at Fred Meyer's to get something to put a present in, and stopped at my comic shop which took a lot longer than I'd anticipated. I talked a lot to Gabriel the comic dealer, and introduced him to Finntroll.
I had a copy of Finntroll for Sky to sample, and two extras. I really didn't know if anyone else would like that band, but several people were interested in it so I gave away my other two copies and had one or two more who wanted one. Hmmm.
Gene finished and read "Danger Is His Middle Name". Quite fun. Chuck read the next part of a story he's working on, Edd read two stories, one if which I missed, and I read chapter one of my "A Magical Girl In Oz". We found out that more than half the room had never read an Oz book.
Micheal made some absolutely wonderful soup. ^_^ One of the cool things about Writer's Night is getting fed, and I don't mean tea and cookies! There were some wonderful large rolls with butter and cake or pie afterwards, and grapes to munch on.
I was disappointed that Julie wasn't there so I couldn't give her her birthday present.
I spent part of Sunday burning a ton of cds for Tom's friend Jeff, who is moving to Arizona. There was a lot of odd music that we decided he had to hear, including the Viking/Folk metal I've been collecting lately. So I made cds of Finntroll, Battlelore, Ensiferum, Cruachan, Ruth MacKenzie, Blind Guardian, and a few other odds and ends like a Varttina cd and Phoenyx.
Then I went over to Jeff and Jeri-Lynn's house, where Sky and Jewyl were already hanging out (I was late as usual). Jeri-Lynn had salmon cooked on their little outdoor grill and it was wonderful. ^_^ Also garlic bread, some asparagus, and strawberry rhubarb cobbler with some vanilla bean ice cream that Sky and Jewyl brought. Yum! After that we watched the movie version of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" which was actually pretty funny.
After that I came home and goofed off. I watched volume 5 of Trouble Chocolate (still don't have volume 1, but Amazon's working on it I guess :P ). Played some Toontown, drank sun tea, generally did nothing useful.
