miko2: Ranma disguised as a schoolgirl to fool Ryoga (Default)
1. Read all of Pretty Face (I have translated manga scans up through chapter 33, which is somewhere in volume 4, the one I don't own... and then I have volume 5 but no translations... and volume 6 will be the last of this series. I also downloaded the first two volumes (scanlations... translated scans) of a manga called Ichigo Channel. I'm not sure about this thing about downloading scanlations from IRC... there's tons of titles to choose from but I know very little about most of them. Would be neat to get a few things though, like Read or Die, if there's a translation of that manga out there.

One thing about Pretty Face is that, although the setup is not really anything like Tuxedo Gin, the two manga otherwise have a lot of things in common, especially when it comes to the types of plots they use. Both are pretty funny too.

2. I bought and set up another 5 shelf bookcase (the $46 cheapie kind). This one goes behind the door into the computer room, next to the other one just like it. More shelf space! Do you ever have enough shelf space? Not really.

3. Watched Revolutionary Girl Utena 34-36. They're still doing three episodes per dvd which is pretty cheap, but at least they're finishing the series. These three chapters actually have us hurtling towards the end of the series... there's still 12 episodes to go, but we've now had what they said was the final duel... but the plot only thickens more and more. Was there ever a story so full of weird symbolism? One of the fun things in one of these chapters is that some of the characters go to see a student play, put on by -- you guessed it! -- the two shadow theater girls. Apparently they're not just a weird Greek chorus, they're also students at the school. Fun stuff. ^_^

4. Other stuff I picked up at my comic shop this week (was 2 weeks, hadn't been there since before the con): Tuxedo Gin vol 2, Inu Yasha vol 14ish (can't remember), Bone, Usagi Yojimbo, Manga Blast, Celestial Zone, and (wonder of wonders) A Distant Soil. And along with the Utena dvd, the newest Inu Yasha dvd.

Usagi Yojimbo has Usagi's son Jotaro posed with the Lone Goat and Kid kid... both with swords drawn. That's a picture that Stan had to do sooner or later... and a story too of course, because the story inside has the two meeting for the first time.
