The temperature is dropping again. I heard snow was on the way but I don't know if they meant in the mountains only or down here too.

I really should have gotten my oil changed today. I can still do it tomorrow of course... it just requires leaving for work an hour or so early. But I can never seem to do that.

Anyway Tom wanted to go down to Burien to Wonderworld Books so I agreed. I'd been thinking of going to Gary's Games to get a new set of six-sided dice for myself. I bought four very pretty sets of dice before Christmas with the idea that some of them were gifts but I might keep one for myself... but I wound up giving them all away as gifts. So I still want to buy myself a new set.

I've also been meaning to pick up the fourth Hellsing dvd, and also the first Alien Nine graphic novel. That meant trips to Suncoast or probably Uwajamaya/Kinokuniya. But since Tom wanted to go to Wonderworld I decided I might find any of these things there, or possibly all three of them. And probably some other things besides.

Well, I only bought four books, but I spent $111.

The first book is a large Oz hardcover that I didn't already own called The Salt Sorcerer of Oz and Other Tales by Eric Shanower. I like Eric's stuff so this was a no brainer. Expensive, but worth buying.

The second book was another hardcover Oz book... All Things Oz. It's a small but very thick book full of pictures and quotes from and about Oz, with a half dozen or more short stories (very short, mostly), poems, and other such stuff. The kind of book that's fun to flip through for ten or fifteen minutes, although I've actually been through most of it already, only skipping some of the stories. This was $29.95, but also well worth it. It's a great deal of fun.

The third book was the hardcover edition of League of Extraordinairy Gentlemen II. Well, what can I say, I had to have this as well... another big ticket item, considering I'm in a comic shop.

I found the Alien Nine graphic novel #1 I wanted. That was my fourth book.

After that I got a nice fantasy-themed card for my sister's upcoming birthday. Very cool looking. And I got two keychain pikachu's, because when you unscrew the keychain part as I already have done, they make very good markers/pawns/figures for cheapass games like Kill Dr. Lucky. One of them is for Jeff and Jeri-Lynn, to add to their collection of figurines. ^_^

They didn't have any sets of just six-sided dice... nor did they appear to have the Hellsing dvd I wanted, although at that point I'll confess I wasn't looking too hard. They also didn't have the second boxed set of You're Under Arrest dvds... they had the first and the third, but I need the second.

But that was probably a good thing. I didn't need to buy it just at this moment, what with already spending a hundred bucks.

On the way home Tom was trying to get me to agree to a place to eat or a choice of what to do for dinner. I'd actually brought it up, and was thinking of maybe going to Gordito's. Tom had suggested that but added that he wanted to go somewhere where they would take a credit card as he only had $5 on him. I was also thinking of Gary's Games and if they were open and if I could manage to buy a set of dice there tonight... that's just around the corner from Gordito's. But also right next door to Gary's Games is an Italian/Greek restaurant called Romio's that I like.

About this time Tom said that he wished Nicoli's was still open because he really missed that place. Nicoli's was an Italian/Greek restaurant over in Wallingford that we used to go to a lot. Well, Romio's is fairly similar so I mentioned it. Turns out Tom had never been there before... that surprised me. So we went there.

Tom got a half ceasar salad. He wasn't actually that hungry, probably a first for Tom. But he'd eaten earlier. I was hungry having not eaten anything, so I ordered a half Greek salad (very good) and a Zorba calzone. Let me tell you, their calzones are at least as big as a Gordito's burrito, and one of those is a meal and a half, or two meals... so I was only able to eat about half of the calzone. It was really good though... gyros meat, Greek olives, lots of cheese and tomato sauce, with a yogurt/green onion dipping sauce. Yummy!

Gary's Games was closed of course. Oh well!
