Foods that I have eaten
Aug. 7th, 2004 03:45 pmWell I don't update often enough so I might as well say something about my boring life.
Yesterday was payday. It was a good day because of that, and it was Friday too. Not long after I got to work it began to pour, I mean REALLY pour. There was water rushing down my window so fast it looked like we were underwater. We heard thunder. Rain was coming in sideways through the dock bay doors and they had to close all of them on that side of the building for a short while.
For some reason this made me want fish and chips and clam chowder. There aren't a lot of restaurants around where I work, so I tend to visit the same ones over and over... mostly Sunny Teriyaki, Taco Time, Arby's, with the occasional Subway or enchilades verde from a local Mexican restaurant or red curry chicken from a local Thai restaurant. Sometimes I go to Fred Meyers or Safeway if I'm low on cash but both of them have sucky deli sections. Fred Meyers is especially sucky, Safeway is merely not as good as QFC or Ballard Market. On the flip side Fred Meyers does not involve driving over a railroad crossing (where I often get held up) and they allow me to write a check for more than a measly $10 over, which I usually want to do if I'm short on cash, so I often go there.
So... anyway, I wanted fish and chips. Ivar's would have been perfect, but I don't know of an Ivar's in Auburn. There's a Skippers and it's not a very good one. Then I thought to check my menu for BB McGraw's, a local sports bar with some pretty good (but expensive) items on the menu. I usually get pastrami grinders from them, very yummy.
Well... they had fish and chips... halibut in fact. And chowder. So I ordered that, and it costs me just over $15.00. And was very forgettable. You really should never order fish n chips from a place that does not specialize in fish.
So I paid an exhorbitant price for a pretty mediocre meal. When I left work at 11:30 pm, I decided to hit Arby's. I've been addicted to their Market Fresh Wraps lately, especially the Ultimate Bacon Lettuce and Tomato or the Turkey Bacon. Very yummy. They claim to be open late but this means only to 11 pm during the week, which hardly counts as late in my book, but on Friday and Saturday they're open to 1 am, so I got a turkey bacon wrap to eat on the way home.
Anyway, that's my boring life. I've been so addicted to my game lately that my bank account is actually doing really well, I don't hardly spend money at all. :D At the same time I completely forgot to get new car tabs until several days after they were expired, I was sitting at a light with a cop next to me and running through my head all the possible things I might get in trouble for (usual paranoia just because the cop was there) and with a shock I realized it was August and my tabs were expired. Heh. So I went and got them renewed the next morning.
I need to visit Red Mill Burgers again. A pepper bacon cheeseburger is calling my name. I tried to go there last Sunday around 9 pm and they'd just closed....
