miko2: Ranma disguised as a schoolgirl to fool Ryoga (kat)
I attended Salem Academy, a non-denominational Christian High School from 7th grade until I graduated in 1982. In my Sophomore year I discovered Christian rock. At the time there were only a handful of bands that could be considered Christian rock bands, but I followed the genre throughout high school and college as it grew and flourished. There are a lot of bands that I used to listen to that I would be embarassed to play for my friends now. In some cases the musicianship just wasn't very good. In many more cases, even if the musicianship was good, the songwriting was not. Either the themes were simplistic, or the execution of the writing was lacking.

Can you get more geeky than Christian rock? )

For those who don't want to read about my Christian blues rock obsession, I give you 30-second horror film remakes starring cartoon bunnies.

What more could you want?

I was up until 6 am so I slept in past noon. I goofed off on the computer for maybe half an hour, then I showered and got dressed and gathered my stuff and was out the door by 2:30.

The first thing I noticed was that there was a small card in my mailbox that I'd missed the night before. It was for a certified delivery of a package -- my new kung fu jacket that I'd ordered. I got in my car and started to pull out, but the mail truck pulled up behind me so I got back out and checked to make sure he didn't have my package, and collected the mail that he had. He told me that the post office branch closed at 3 pm so I'd better hurry.

In among the various pieces of mail was another package with a cd in it that I'd forgotten that I had ordered, and also a letter from Town & Country Jeep/Chrysler saying that my plates were in, and I should come in and let them install them.

So first I went and got my new jacket, then stopped at the dealership. And actually I just needed my registration and tabs, because the car already had plates. I thought they'd replace them but I guess there's no reason to.

And then I was off on the long drive South. I made a couple of wrong turns but recognized that they were wrong right away, and I was able to find my destination without instructions or a map.

Of course, there were not many cars outside of Julie and Mike's house, and I immediately realized that I hadn't paid that much attention to what day the Round Robin party was. I'd just assumed it was Saturday, even as I read the e-mails that said otherwise.

Well, since I'd driven that far I went in and said hi to Julie and Mike, and showed off my car and my new jacket. Then I drove back home.

I stopped at QFC, which was unusually crowded. As it turned out, they were doing some sort of "holiday open house" thing, and had free samples of food and specials on holiday foods and whatever. I bought a handful of the monster-sized hershey and cadbury candy bars, which were 10 for $10.00 or $1 each. I don't know what I'll do with them but that was too good a price to pass up. I got some salad from the deli (fava/garbanzo bean salad, and greek salad) for dinner.

Then it all went horribly wrong Oh wait, that's not my line! Actually when I was in line I realized that they had another special where if you spent more than $10 you got a free 2 liter bottle of pop. But I didn't want to stand in line again, so I missed out on the free pop.

At home I'd just sat down to eat my salad and watch Stargate when the phone rang. It was my sister Brenda. She said that she and her son Austin were over at Husky Stadium, because they'd just watched the game. I said I was sorry about that, because I knew the Huskies had played horribly, but of course that was what they'd expected anyway -- if the Huskies were having a good year they wouldn't have been given the tickets in the first place. She asked if I wanted to go to dinner, and I said sure, and she said she'd be over soon.

I figured I could watch about half of the Stargate episode before she arrived. I forgot what traffic after a Husky game is like. When she called back 50 minutes later and said she was still on her way but was stuck in traffic, I said, "You're still on I-5?" and she said, "No, we haven't gotten to I-5 yet!"

Anyway, they finally arrived, and we went out to Outback and had a nice dinner. So that was a nice surprise, and good thing I was home when she called. ^_^
