Crummy Week
Jul. 15th, 2005 01:36 amIt's been a crummy week so far. My coworker's dad died a couple of days ago. He was old and sick and had had heart surgery a few months ago, from which he never really fully recovered. But it's still very sad, and it makes me realize that I'll very likely have to face the same thing within ten or twenty years, which doesn't seem that far away anymore.
My roommate Tom found out yesterday that he's diabetic. He's not at the point where he has to take any medication yet, but he'll need to loose weight and watch his diet and check himself every day from now on. Not a good thing at all. And of course it makes me think (as if I didn't already know) that I don't get enough exercise and I don't have the healthiest diet in the world, and I could lose twenty pounds easily.
Work has sucked because Jim's been gone (see above) and that means I have to answer all the phone calls and field all the weird questions, and a lot of weird stuff has been coming up. It's going to be even more interesting tomorrow because one of the billers will be gone. And to top it off, I got a jury summons today. It's for August 22nd, for five days, up in Shoreline, which is much better than having to go downtown. I've been summoned once or twice before and got out of it both times, but I don't see any reason to do that again. My first thought was, hey, Shawn Kemp was arrested in Shoreline recently, maybe I'll be on his trial. Lol. The suckiest thing about it is, of course, that I have to be there at 8:30 am. Who's awake at that ungodly hour? Heh. Guess I'll be getting some reading down in late August...
I'm a bit miffed because after buying the Crosby Stills & Nash greatest hits cd recently and then assembling my "folk rock harmony" cd (which includes a lot of Indigo Girls and Simon & Garfunkel among other things), it occured to me that one of the songs I was definitely missing was "Love The One You're With". And I thought that was a CSN song? I asked my coworkers at work, and one of them swore that it was indeed a CSN song... and after some research I saw that it appeared on one of their live recordings, but actually it's from a Stephen Stills solo cd. So now I've ordered that. ^_^ I'll probably have to order a Niel Young cd next so I can have Heart of Gold. And maybe my next attempt at a folk-harmony cd mix should have Van Morrison's Brown-Eyed Girl. Oh, and I bought a greatest hit's colleciton of the Hollies (where Nash came from), and as I already have a Byrd's greatest hits (where Crosby came from) I'll probably have to pick up something from Buffalo Springfield next (where Stills came from ^_^ ).
