I had a good day Saturday. It started with staying up late Friday night playing celtic music for my online friend. I've been sorting my cds, putting all of the folk/world music in one spot, rock music in one spot, classical music in one spot... nothing's really sorted alphabetically but it's easier to find stuff now. And I've been ripping stuff that I don't have on hard drive yet, mostly my celtic folk and celtic rock right now. I found the missing Tempest cd, and now I'm trying to locate one or more Steeleye Span cds (I know I own Ten Man Mop, and I think I probably own Storm Force Ten and/or Live At Last... own them on cd that is).
So I slept in Saturday, goofed around on the computer a bit, and then I got a call from Tom. This was cool because I had some stuff of his but didn't know how to get ahold of him. He wanted to come over later in the evening. I had some stuff to do so I quickly got my act together and drove up to North Seattle. First I stopped at Silver Platters, because I wanted to get a gift for Tom. But I was bad... I bought a Jackie Chan dvd for myself (and one for Tom), and then bought the newest Tempest cd for myself. Eep. $50 onto the credit card, bad Mark!
Then I went to my comic shop, but stopped at Top Ten Toys first. I got a stuffed animal for one niece, a cd (story of the Little Cabin In The Woods, first in the Little House On The Prairie series) for my other niece, and I got a stuffed animal for me... a twin of the very cute red fox that I bought for my niece for Christmas. I really liked it, now I have one for myself. $50 more onto the credit card, bad bad Mark!
And then on to my comic shop, which was much more money spent. I hadn't been there in 5 weeks so I had some stuff waiting for me... a new Distant Soil graphic novel, Top Ten graphic novel (not written by Moore though, bleah), Usgai Yojimbo comic, and new trade paperbacks of Here Is Greenwood, Fushugi Yugi, Negima, Kare Kano, Fruits Basket, Yotsuba, and then two other things I didn't remember ordering... volume 1 of ROD (Read or Die), and volume 1 of Yotsuba Milk Tea. I like the ROD ova so that made sense, but I didn't know what Yotsuba Milk Tea was... until I started reading it and realized I've read it before. It's something I read online scanlations of, finally being released in the US, and I must have requested it quite a while back. Fun stuff though.
Then I went over to Scarecrow Video and bought some used dvds that I thought Tom might like. More money spent. But I wanted to get something for Tom too, since I'd gotten gifts for everyone else who had helped me move.
Tom found his way to my place without directions (he'd only been here once before, on a dark rainy moving night). He brought food from Chef At Wok. This was a decision made based on some really weird circuitous reasoning: when he called, he said he'd grab food at Gordito's, since he was going to be near there. I said, oh, I'm going to be near there too, I'm going to my comic shop (which is practically next door). After this Tom said, oh, well, I can go to Chef At Wok instead. As if me being near Gordito's somehow invalidated it as a good place for Tom to get dinner for us.
But anyway, the food from Chef At Wok was good.
Tom wanted to see the rest of Magical Shopping Arcade Abenoboshi, so we watched that. Then he wanted to watch Firefly. He was pretty hooked on the series and stayed up late, wanting to watch the next episode, then the next. We watched the pilot and the three episodes that followed it, about 5 hours of Firefly total. When Tom left he said he could still get home before 5 AM and get 4 hours of sleep before he had to be up (he was moving his lathe today -- his living situation has improved and he has a shop area now, and he's also got a new job). Anyway, shortly after he left I figured out that I hadn't been confused, my clock in the bathroom really WAS an hour ahead of the clock in the livingroom, and I realized this was because it sets itself, and had reset for daylight savings time. So Tom wasn't going to get home until 6 AM actually.
Well anyway, I read my Yusaba Milk Tea manga before I went to bed. No big plans for today.
