In other news, my Cordwainer Smith book arrived in the mail today. I haven't read anything yet, but considering I had Jeff's copy of this book in my possession for possibly 2-3 years and never read anything in it, it will be quite surprising if I do manage to read part of it anytime soon. But that's my intention, anyway.
In still other news, I visited a Second Life dance club last night called H20. (They were having a "furry avatar" event, so it sounded promising.) In all of my time in the game I've never had a reason to "mute" anyone (prevents anything they say or do from appearing on your screen or speakers. You can still see them, but can't hear them or see what they type). Within 20 minutes I had muted two people at the club who were constantly spamming annoying sounds and text -- they both had some script that would execute the same "gesture" (a gesture can include sound files, text, and actions too of course) up to 40 or 50 times in just a couple of seconds.
Anyway after muting these two idiots and wondering why the establishment didn't just kick them out, I realized they were actually the acting DJ and the acting Events Coordinator. Bleah. So you might say my opinion of club H20 was a bit less than enthusiastically positive....
After that I attended a class on particle scripting, so I know a bit more about scripting than I did previously (I knew virtually nothing before the class, of course!).
