I played World of Warcraft all evening Tuesday night. I had fun. Maybe this proves that I could get sucked into this game like other games I've played.
I only played a few hours Wednesday night. There was a lot more running around and a lot more dying, more frustration, less accomplishment. Maybe this proves that WoW isn't really the game for me after all. Who knows? This game has some of the things I liked Everquest for, and has removed some of the annoying parts, but it still contains some of the annoying bits that I dislike about most mmogs and which I really appreciated about City of Heroes, because CoH had eliminated them. CoH has lots of fun ways to travel very quickly from place to place, and you get to use them early. You can use them to run away from a fight if you need to. And you aren't forced to group if you really don't want to -- at least, most of the time.
Anyway, one of the obstacles to playing another game is that I pay a lot of money per month in Second Life for the priveledge of owning a lot of land, where I have my store, my house, my garden with the teahouse and the grotto pool. Aside from having a store where people would occasionally buy stuff (and where my money tree was), I really almost never visited my land, because I tend to hang out at the other house that Nara owns. So I've actually had my land for sale for a long time -- but I set the price high, because I wasn't in a hurry to sell and wanted to get a good price.
So, I played WoW Tuesday night. Wednesday I came home and -- guess what? -- my land in Second Life had sold. I'm now landless. I'm not sure what that means, exactly. I kind of want to have a store set up somewhere, and I think I'd like to have my house and maybe my garden/grotto set up somewhere, but for now, I can "tier down" and pay less money per month. I could "tier down" to $0.00 and play for free if I didn't want to own any land again, but I'm not exactly sure what I want to do right now.
