Dig That Groove Baby!
Aug. 26th, 2006 01:15 amI had They Might Be Giant's song "Man, It's So Loud In Here" stuck in my head for hours, so I had to play it. I logged into Second Life, started dancing, and fired up SAM3, and soon I was dancing to a TMBG disco tune. While it was playing I remembered another silly disco tune, Chinese Disco by Shonen Knife, so I played that next. Then I did a search on the word disco and came up with two more goofy disco tunes -- Everybody Disco by The Red Elvises, and Disco Love Grapes by The Swirling Eddies.
So the next question was, could I come up with enough goofy disco tunes to make a whole mix cd?
Well, I didn't have any more songs that fit nearly so well as the above four, but after thinking about it and searching a bit, I came up with "That Boy Could Dance" by Weird Al (not a disco song, but a song about dancing) and "Dig That Groove Baby!" by the Toy Dolls (also not a disco song, but a silly punk rock song about disco/funk music).
And... oh yes. The singer-songwriter accoustic guitar version of "Dancing Queen" by Milo Bender, from one of my weird collection cds.
I'm sure I can come up with a few more if I think really hard about it. ^_^
I could probably add a Scissor Sisters song in there somewhere. I don't actually own much real disco music -- I think I have one collection cd because I wanted a copy of Amii Stewart's "Knock On Wood" and I have a few funk collection cds as well.
