Weekend Project
Sep. 10th, 2006 05:50 pmI managed one of my weekend projects yesterday when I went and got my oil changed. This was something that needed to be done, but it seemed more urgent after Friday, when I noticed that something about my car/engine smelled hot, or odd. Getting the oil changed didn't fix this, but at the moment I'm not really sure what the problem might be, if indeed there is a problem.
My second weekend project started with my driving up to Ikea and picking out a cheap small tv/entertainment stand for my stereo system. I have a pretty complicated stereo system that I almost never use, and I really need to get rid of several parts of it. For one, I have two tape decks, when I barely can justify owning one anymore. I also have two cd decks which was never really necessary, I just kept the old one when I got a newer fancier one. I also have a cheap Radio Shack mixing board that I don't need, and extra speakers that I don't need. If anyone wants any of this stuff let me know, as I'm probably going to give it away for free on Craig's List next weekend.
I had a nice salmon lunch at Ikea while I was there. ^_^ Later Satuday evening I made some stir fry with brown rice, using up a lot of the veggies that I had in the frigdge that were in danger of going bad before I used them. I found out that I can only make 1/2 cup of brown rice at a time in my steamer, since it takes so much water to cook it (takes much longer to cook than white rice) that I can't put enough water in the reservior for more than 1/2 cup brown rice. On the other hand, even 1/2 cup is more than I probably need to be eating. 1/4 or 1/3 cup seems much better if I'm cooking just for myself.
Today after watching the Seahawks I set about assembling my Ikea tv table. I now have my stereo mostly set up, apart from the speakers. I'll need to figure out where I want the speakers to go first before I finish the job. And then -- well, I'll have to see if I actually use my stereo system for anything.
If nothing else, I'd like to hook up to a computer and digitize some of my records that will never be released onto cd.
