It's a good day!
I stayed up until 5 am but I still got about 5 1/2 hours of sleep. I don't feel too tired for a Friday. More importantly, I got most of the artist's APA printed up. What I have left to do is to draw something for my 4th page, scan and print that, and to finish writing and designing my editorial/contents page. And I use the term "design" loosely, since it'll probably just be a short bit of rambling text with list of the APA's contents, info on the next issue and where to send submissions, a title and a box around it to make it look nice, or something.
I also need to edit my story assignment before Saturday, but overall that's a lot of work that was kind of looming over me that I've gotten out of the way. It puts me in a very good mood!
I also made a discovery last night. While digging through my files I found a little envelope with some government bonds inside. I knew I had them, but I had figured it to be a few hundred dollars at most, and they've been lost in my so-called filing system for a long time. As it turned out, there were 5 bonds with a face value of $200.00 each. These were from around 1987 so they'd matured long ago. I took them to my credit union and as it turned out, they were worth more than $200.00 each -- they keep appreciating interest after they mature, something I hadn't realized. So I actually had nearly $1500.00.
I placed it all in my savings, while I decide what to do with it. I think I need to reinvest it somehow.
It's Friday, and it's sunny and beautiful outside. It's the first of June. It’s also a full moon, and it’s the day after Walt Whitman’s birthday. I’m not sure if those things are important, but I'm listening to the latest songs from the Tragically Hip, Within Temptation, and Rush. Also some Shins and Scissor Sisters. How could I not be in a good mood?
First 15 songs in my current highly reccomended playlist:
