miko2: Ranma disguised as a schoolgirl to fool Ryoga (gothminty)
So! I've been considering ordering all of Sailor Moon (5 seasons) for about $100.00 off of Ebay (these would not be the "official" releases of course -- those are around $150.00 per season).

However, I've also been kind of working on my story Muyami Academy in the last month or two, and it's reaching a point where some of the background characters from other animes are supposed to travel to other worlds. I have characters from El Hazzard, characters from Escaflowne, characters from Magic Knights Rayearth, and characters from Fushigi Yugi. Back when I was planning who would be in my multi-crossover story it seemed funny to have all of these characters who, in their own anime/manga stories, travel to another world. I didn't initially plan to ever have them travel to another world, but then I realized that everything that happens in that other world adventure could be off-camera. And so, when I reach a certain point in my story, they all vanish -- and come back later, having had their grand adventure.

Trouble is, I didn't own Fushigi Yugi or Magic Knights Rayearth on dvd, and so I've never seen either show all the way to the end and don't know how they wind up. Magic Knights Rayearth is probably a little more predictable -- it's a bit like a game adventure, and I'm sure at the end the girls return to their own world having completed their mission. Fushigi Yugi is quite a bit less predictable. Who does Miyaka ultimately fall in love with? Does she reconcile with her friend/rival Yui? Does Yui live? There were a lot of things I didn't know.

As it happened, I found someone selling the entire series -- the official dvds mind you -- on Ebay. I spent nearly as much money as I would have on the Sailor Moon 5-season set, but what I got is 8 dvs with 7 episodes each, all still sealed. That's a lot of episodes, but I got it for a lot less than the official boxed sets would have cost me.

In the meantime I also picked up a few more cds from my boss. I think I spent $30 total for 16 cds. The one I've been listening to the most is Inside Out by Eve 6, since I've always liked that song. In addition to what I picked up on Thursday, I grabbed on Friday another cd by Goldfinger and cds by Bad Religion, Reel Big Fish, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, 311 and Unwritten Law. More than enough to keep me busy.

So last night I logged in to Second Life and found Ali and Nara online. I haven't talked to them in forever. We hung out for a little bit, but Nara had to go pick up one of the kids. They both decided they were going to go out and buy City of Heroes and be back in about an hour, and if things went well we'd get back together and hang out some more, either in SL or in CoH.

And -- after they both logged out, my internet service died. Talk about horrible timing!

The upshoot is, I have all of these things that I could have been doing, but what I really wanted to do, I couldn't do. Cut off my internet connection and I'm at a loss. I watched some of Fushigi Yugi instead, but I really wasn't in the mood. I read for a bit. Then I went to bed early.

In the morning my connection was back up, but too late for me to rendezvous with my friends. :p

I'd forgotten how badly Fushigi Yugi is animated. A whole lot of still art scenes, with the camera panning from one spot to another to disguise the fact that nothing is actually animated. It's still a fun story though.
