Dec. 14th, 2007 09:51 pmTomorrow's party is coming too quickly for me. I haven't written enough to really have something to read... maybe 3-4 scenes that only hint at the story I had in mind, but I'll probably read them anyway. I'm not meeting my writing goals for this month by a long shot, but oh well. At least I'm writing something.
My goals for today were to exercise, write, and shop. I did the exercise first, on the theory that if I waited too late in the evening they might close down the exercise center at my apartment complex, and since it only opened back up yesterday after a week of remodeling I need the exercise. So I came right home and went over and walked on the treadmill for about 55 minutes. I did this yesterday too. I need to do it every single day, really, at least until I'm back down to the weight I was at this time last year.
Anyway after that I headed up to Southcenter for the second time this week, with a list of books I wanted to look for. I visited Waldenbooks and immediately picked up a book for myself that I didn't need. Then I wandered around for most of an hour, failing to find most of what was on my list. I was about to leave without buying anything (I wasn't going to buy just the book for myself if I couldn't find anything else to buy) when I finally found one of the books on my list... and then I went back and picked up something else I'd seen, and then agonized for another 20 minutes about whether it was really a good present or not.
Bleah. I have several packages that had better arrive tomorrow, or I'll be missing a few gifts. I also have people left on my list that I haven't gotten anything for... a couple people at least. And I have no idea what to bring for food. I want to stop at a bookstore tomorrow on the way up, or maybe at Kinokuniya, and probably at my comic shop.. and a grocery store... meh. And I have presents to wrap still, and more of my story to work on. Lame!
You know what that means! Another round of Spider Solitaire while I listen to Within Temptation and Amorphis! Yeah baby!
In other news... I tried to watch Inu-Yasha volume 54 last night. I've been catching up on the series, on the volumes I've bought but hadn't yet watched. Anyway, this disc was corrupt, and I could only watch half of it, which was really annoying. I need to remember to take it back to the comic shop tomorrow. Oh, and I was planning to get a new one so I could watch the rest of it... I think that was the other reason I wanted to hit Kinokuniya.
My Keychain Light is Possessed
Last week I bought a little keychain light at Fry's to replace the one I used to have that died a long time ago. They were having a sale... on certain colors. Black was on sale, and green and red, but not blue or one other color. I thought that was weird, but black is a good color, so I got that. Since they were on sale I picked up a couple of extras for presents.
Anyway... less than a week later, on Wednesday, I noticed that my stupid keychain light had already stopped working. I mean, I knew it was cheap, but I expect even cheap stuff to last longer than half a week. I tried everything I could to make it work, but no dice. It was broke. This made me angry, and annoyed, and upset, and I also worried about giving the other ones I'd bought away as gifts because it would be lame to give away something that breaks so quickly.
And then, the next day when I pulled my keys from my pocket, my little light was on. I turned it off. I turned it on. It worked just fine.
What the heck? Well, whatever. I guess the problem fixed itself.
But more than that... just about every other time I grab my keys now, the stupid light turns on. If I even look at it funny, it turns on.
It's possessed. That's the only explanation.
While at Frys I also bought some new batteries for the flashy rainbow strobe light raver toy thing on my keychain that I bought at the Rainforest Cafe in Chicago last year. Now it flashes again. Yay! Of course, it also likes to turn itself on when I'm not looking... but I got lots of extra batteries so I'll let it do its thing.
