On the day before Thanksgiving I ordered two cds from an online European merchanter. This was the only way to get these cds -- that of the Mongolian folk band Hanggai, who appeared with the Sparrow Quartet (featuring Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn) in this video. You can see the Hanggai band themselves in this video.
This was literally one of the very first Christmas gifts I bought. One was my gift for Amy Thomson and one was for myself, because I wanted to hear them as well. It was the last package I ordered before Christmas that still hadn't arrived. Lately I've been really worried about where it was, and was planning to write to the company asking them about it.
Today I got an e-mail from them saying that the package had been returned to them marked "unclaimed". WTF? I've been looking for any sign of this package for many weeks now. If anyone had alerted me that it was being held, I would have claimed it immediately.
I checked with my apartment manager. They sign for packages and hold them for tenants quite a bit. They don't have such a package, haven't had such a package, and haven't returned any packages -- that's not something they do, especially when it's for a tenant that still rents from them.
The only other possible option I can think of is that the post office was holding it, which they do when a certified signature is required. However, they've done this for me before and I know for a fact that they notify you not just once but twice before they decide to return a package. I have recieved no notification at all.
Grrr....
