Yesterday I combined exercise with birthday shopping: I parked at the little parking lot along the Burke-Gillman traile right off Main St. here in Auburn and I walked down to the so-called Auburn "Supermall" (nothing super about it, trust me). There I bought a variety of glass, plastic, coral and gemstone beads from a mineral/rock/gem shop, plus some wire and tiny metal clamp beads. Then I walked over to Walmart and got some clasps and a small kid-sized set of mini jewelry tools -- needle-nose pliers, wire cutter, and round-tip pliers for bending.

The idea is to let my nieces make some jewelry. I could have bought a large $9 package of beads at Walmart, but while the idea of having a much larger selection sounds good, the idea that those are much cheaper/junkier beads does not. But... I should probably buy a few more beads to give them a few options to work with.

Also yesterday I decided that I haven't bought any new shirts in a while and I could use one or more black shirts with band logos on them... of bands I like of course, which doesn't include very many bands that you can actually buy shirts of. And my problem is that I like thick quality tee shirts like I get from Crazy Shirts or The Mountain, and most band logo shirts are made of thin cheap material tee shirts. But eh, try try again.

I bought a Tyr shirt online. I also looked at shirts for King's X, Nightwish, Amorphis, and a few other favorites. There's a Bruckner tee shirt that someone designed for sale on Zazzle that I'm very tempted to pick up. The idea of a "Bruckner" concert-style tee shirt appeals to me.

This week I need to: A) Renew my driver's license (well, or next week); B) sign a new lease for my aparment ($50.00 increase, yay); C) Finish reading and edit that Jonsey story thing; D) Probably do some more present shopping, and E)Get my Bonus White House Fun Money Check (hopefully -- I got a letter Monday saying it should be here by Friday).

I cooked Monday night. I fried up some Chicken, made a kind of Thai chicken salad with stir fry veggies, bean sprouts, and a Thai chili sauce (relatively low carb); then I made "broccoli slaw" using a package of broccoli slaw veggies and some olive-oil based mayo, light sour cream, and a little mustard, cider vinegar, and spices. And then I cooked some brown rice and packaged everything up for 3 lunches for this week.

Another new thing for me is Kashi crunchy granola bars. For the longest time I'd buy their chewy granola bars and the crunchy ones just seemed weird. Then one day I suddenly had a craving for the crunchy ones, so I bought some, and now I'm kind of addicted to them... I eat one every morning.
