Jul. 31st, 2008 08:48 pmIn theory I was going to come home after my walk and maybe write for a bit and then play City of Heroes, which I haven't really done for a couple of days.
Instead I spent over 3 hours just listening to and downloading music. After trying to list as many as 100 female-fronted goth/symphonic metal bands a few days ago, I've been checking several of them out a day. Today, for no really good reason, I decided what I really needed to do was make an iPod playlist with one song from each of 100 different female-fronted metal bands. I named this playlist "Femme Metal 100" (clever name isn't it?) and I expanded my parameters a bit to include all forms of metal and some hard rock, although I didn't include old-school or pop-metal bands like The Donnas or Girlschool. Mostly it's goth metal, progressive metal, symphonic metal, power metal, or folk metal with a few odds and ends thrown in.
Depsite these more liberal rules and all of the goth/symphonic metal that I've downloaded in the last few days, I was still only able to place about 65 songs on my new playlist. Then I started researching all of the other bands that I'd listed previously. After 3 hours I'd downloaded 25 new songs. This really isn't as bad as it might sound -- I'd just recieved 40 new downloads from eMusic as my monthy allotment for August, and I still had over $30.00 credit on iTunes from cards I got for my birthday.
Still, a lot of music, almost all of it for my silly new playlist. Even at that my list is about 15 songs short of the 100 I was planning to have.
Eh. I'm sure there's more than enough there anyway, and I'll probably find other things to add to it eventually.
I grilled a cheese sandwich in my george foreman grill. That worked well. I grilled chicken shish kebobs in it last night, and paired them with brown rice for lunch. I bought the shish kebobs at the store... but I think I need to marinate them or something before cooking them. The other problem with shish kebabs is that it's hard to cook the meat thoroughly and not completely overcook the veggies, but using the George Foreman helped with that at least a little bit, although I think another minute or two would have been best.
