Oct. 21st, 2008 09:43 amThis is almost the very definition of a typical salesman:
He paid a personal visit to our customer's business. He handed out donuts. He promised a great rate on an upcoming shipment, but didn't give any reference number. He also didn't enter anything about the quote in our system.
As the shipment date approached, he didn't answer his work phone or respond to the message left there. He didn't answer his cell phone, or respond to the message left there. He didn't respond to e-mail.
The customer calls me wanting a quote number. I said, "I'm sorry, there isn't one... just write "quote per (Salesman's Name)".
I know that will work because we do it all the time... sad to say.
