Dec. 18th, 2008 09:41 pmIt snowed 19 inches in Spokane -- 17 inches of that was in a 24 hour period. They shut down our Spokane terminal today, they couldn't move some trailers from the yard even with chains. Later the Auburn terminal called back all drivers making deliveries North and East of us (they weren't accomplishing much anyway), and then Bremerton closed down.
Bellingham was fine as far as I can tell. They were probably laughing at us for having so much trouble down South.
The snow kept piling up outside and they started sending people home early. My boss told me I could leave an hour early, and since it was pretty dead I did so. However the streets were quite clear just a mile from the terminal. I've experienced that before, for some reason snow piles up on the streets around our terminal when most of Auburn is not bad off, so you can freak out thinking you're going to be snowed in when that's hardly the case.
Tomorrow could be interesting though, with the wet hills freezing tonight and snow still falling here and there.
I stopped at Fred Meyers and bought stuff to make tabouleh. It turns out to be much easier than I expected... the bulwer wheat just needs to be soaked for an hour or two, then you toss in all of the chopped up stuff (mint, parsley, tomato, onion, cucumber) and then top off with lemon and olive oil and salt and pepper. I tasted it and it was good. I am going to make it to work tomorrow for our Christmas party if it kills me.
I watched volume 1 of Strawberry Marshmallow tonight. I broke down this last week and ordered copies of it from Amazon, all five volumes -- they were cheap since Genon has closed down their North American operations and stuff is being dumped onto the market (but is also out of print, so now's the time to get it). Anyway volume 1 arrived first -- for once -- and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Fun series.
I even somehow managed to write a scene or two on my story, although I'm mostly not working hard enough on it to have it finished by Saturday.
