Oct. 12th, 2009 12:39 amWatched Star Trek IV tonight. The Voyage Home. It's a good movie but a bit long, and not nearly as visceral as the new one.
When I ordered 2-4 last month I mistakenly ordered #3 on vhs. That was annoying. My vhs player isn't even hooked up properly, so i just skipped over 3 and went straight to 4.
Last week at Half Price Books I was able to pick up all 4 of the Next Gen movies. All of these I'm getting are the deluxe 2-disc bonus dvds, in silver/platinum boxes. Anyway, after that I was only missing 1, 3, 5 and 6. I went ahead and ordered 3 and 6. I'll order 1 later, and I suppose I'll have to order 5 as well. To complete my collection.
But for now I guess I'll skip over 5 and 6 and watc 7 and 8 next. I remember 8 being good, and 7 being not terrible. The whole thing about the odd numbered movies being bad is a bit overblown. 1 wasn't really terrible, 3 was actually not bad at all. 5 is the worst. 7 was ok, from what I remember. As for 9 and 10... I'm not sure I even remember them. Neither is supposed to be that good, but we'll see.
And 11 was the best Trek movie ever, so that breaks the so-called curse. ^_^
