Dec. 7th, 2009 05:44 pmAmazon is offering a free Christmas MP3 download for each day of the month of December right up until Christmas day. Kind of a neat deal, although not every song is universally loved. Yesterday's song by Lady GaGa got a lot of negative reviews, but I think it can all be summed up by the title of one of the few positive reviews: "Oh no! I expected Lady GaGa to be a good Christian girl who hates fornication!"
They also have a lot of other Christmas songs for free download, including Mr. Heatmiser by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. That's fun. ^_^
I got paid today, and that made me depressed because of how comparatively little I made this past month. Our pay was cut this Fall to help out the company and we agreed to not get paid for the day after Thanksgiving and the day before Christmas (unpaid holidays, yay.) But I've been a bit behind things since September when my car was broken into, and I spent several hundred dollars to fix the window and replace things that were stolen... and the reduction in pay has not allowed me to catch up. It really hit home two weeks ago when I realized that everything I deposited into my checking account was barely enough to cover the rent check I had to write in a week... so I haven't written checks for anything else for two weeks. But this paycheck was even smaller, due to the unpaid holiday. I have to pay all my bills out of it as well as $180.00 to the IRS. I don't know why I owe the IRS $180.00, but I've given up trying to figure it out. If I pay them, the problem will go away.
So it looks like another two weeks of trying to spend as little money as possible.
I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet, and I'm not sure how much I'll manage. I had cookies that I made last Thursday that I took to work... since I wasn't able to get together with friends this weekend. I made some sugarless oatmeal cookies last night with dried cranberries, macadamia nuts and pecans. Those turned out pretty good. ^_^
