Jan. 20th, 2010 02:14 pmI tried to renew my car license last night. It comes due right after Christmas so every year I'm late, since that time of the year is such a mess. Anyway, I haven't needed to do an emissions test for several years (not sure why that is) but this year it's required.
The emissions place wouldn't test my car. Apparently one of the on-board computers said it wasn't ready to test. They explained that if I'd had recent work done on the car or had a batter go dead, that I'd need to complete a "drive cycle" before it could be tested -- ie drive it around for a few days and then come back. The problem is that I haven't had any work done on the car or had any problems with it in forever, so I don't know why it wouldn't be ready for testing right now. I figure I need an oil change, so I'll do that today, and also I drive such short distances most of the time so maybe I need to drive it around for a day or something and then take it in at the end of the day? Hopefully I won't have to take it in for a mechanic to see it, I don't want to spend any more money than I have to.
Really annoying that I'm driving around on expired tabs, and when I try to fix that problem, they tell me, "Drive around some more!"
Walked on the treadmill for 50 minutes last night. I think I need to do that more often, I'm in a terrible habit of only walking for 35 minutes or so and/or skipping too many days during the week. It was so nice and sunny this morning that I walked at lunch too, along the interurban trail by the train tracks out back of where I work.
My coworker, who's from Texas, loves the sun and hates overcast days, so he took the afternoon off. Of course, by the time he left it was already overcast again. :p
I haven't written anything in over a month. I need to force myself to write something tonight.
