Another day, another post

1. On the computer front... Mike helped me out a great deal today. My new computer is up and running, mostly. Mike loaned me a cable and his expertise, and ultimately a net card as well, and helped format and insall everything (well, when I say "help" I mean he did it all and I didn't even watch, I went to work ^_^ ). MIke is cool. But the video card has problems and I need to take it back. So, of the things I planned to put into my barebones system orignally, the score is thus:

A. Floppy Drive. Did not fit. Installed a new floppy that I had instead.
B. Hard drive. Did not fit, and is impossibly old and small. Bought a new 40 gig.
C. CD-R drive. Was impossibly old and slow (2x we think) and also didn't work correctly. Pulled the 32x from my 200mhz BEAST 2.
D. Net card that I bought. Didn't work. Cheap piece of garbage, I should learn not to buy cheap just to save three bucks. Mike gave me an extra he had.
#. Video card. heat sink moves about waaaay too much, causes major problems. Need to exchance for a new one.

So basically everything I wanted to install into this machine, I had to substitute something else. Except for the neon light. ^_^

2. I've been plotting my Oz story for a while now, I have a good idea of where to go with it. In the meantime I've listened to my Twelfth Night cd a few times. I keep thinking how much fun it would be to write a prose interpretation of Twelfth Night with characters from Ranma 1/2. As Gene said in his journal, a writer is never at a loss for ideas. I don't know if I plan to write my Oz anime crossover story. I don't know if I plan to write my Twelfth Night One Half story. But I did locate the full text for the play online, just in case. ^_^

3. Watched half of Lord of the Rings tonight. I have the pan and scan version... maybe I should have waited instead of buying from QFC, but I'm a creature of habit, I'll buy what's in front of me nine times out of ten rather than wait for something better. Still, what a wonderful movie. They did such a good job on the first third, one wonders if they can manage to finish the second and third parts without faltering along the way.
