I took a walk Sunday, and also Monday morning. Yesterday the weather didn't seem so nice, but it was nice today so I took a walk this morning. I just got back in fact. For the last few days it seems like the weather has been nice in the daytime, and then it has rained at night, only to clear up the next day.

I made soup Sunday, which has been my lunch for the last couple of days, and for the next couple of days. It's cheap and healthy but there's not a lot of variety. ^_^

I edited Restoring the Lady and sent it off to Gene. Now he has two stories from me that he didn't have in the queue on Saturday. My next goal is to finish up at least one new story in the next couple of weeks. At the moment I'm tinkering with an old story called Had A Dad, which is another of my stories where I've written quite a bit on it but I'm still not certain where or how the plot begins. Also I've got another story in my head involving a whole new character that I'm afraid of committing to paper. But at least I know where the plot begins on that one. ^_^

One of the cds I bought for $.01 plus S&H off Ebay arrived. It's Zao -- The Fear Is What Keeps Us Here. Now, this is a cd I bought for my nephew for Christmas. He didn't ask for it, and I'd never listened to it before. I just knew he was getting into a lot of heavy metal, and Zao was supposed to be a very popular Christian metal band (popular enough that you can find them at Silver Platters in the regular rock section, which is where I found the cd). Pretty much all of the Christian metal I'm familiar with or have listened to is from the late 80's and early 90's, or from bands that have continued to record since then (Tourniquet for example). I'm only familiar with a few modern Christian metal bands -- Demon Hunter is one, but I figured the black/death - style vocals featured in that band (and other bands I listen to) would probably not appeal to my nephew. He's more into popular stuff and classic metal such as Ozzy, Iron Maiden, etc.

Anyway, I listened to Zao last night. Let's just say that Demon Hunter is a nice stroll through the park on a summer day compared to what Zao sounds like. I don't really own anything quite as unmelodic and harsh as Zao, and I own a lot of stuff that I probably wouldn't play for my nephew, let alone my sister and brother-in-law or my own parents. I wonder what my nephew thought when he listened to it -- if I don't like it, I'm pretty certain he liked it or understood it even less. I'm sure he thought, "What kind of garbage did Crazy Uncle Mark give me?"

Not that Zao is a bad band mind you -- they are actually very good at what they do, if you like that kind of music. ^_^ Which I don't. I'm actually not sure which outcome would dismay me more -- that I got him a cd that he really dislikes, or that he becomes a huge fan of this kind of extreme screaming noise specifically because of me.

Well, hopefully he liked the other cd I got him -- by Narnia, which is a melodic power metal band.
