Today's Song: Kiss You Off by the Scissor Sisters
I don't think

The Scissor Sisters don't like to be labeled a "gay band". In my experience no musician likes to be labeled anything, because that limits them. Jake Shears has said "The fact that some of us are gay affects our music the same amount as it does that some of the members of Blondie are straight." Which I'm sure is true, but the fact remains, when a band writes about straight relationships it's just business as usual, whereas when a band writes a lot on gay-related subjects, people are going to notice that. It also kinda reminds me of Trouble whom I wrote about two days ago... who insisted they weren't a Christian metal band, but still wrote on Christian themes quite a bit. What it really boils down to is not wanting to be labeled, and not wanting to be a "band with a mission" or not wanting people to assume that whatever the main songwriter writes about is necessarily a view shared by the band as a whole. You know, "the views and opinions presented in this song do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of all band members" sort of thing.
The only other thing I have to say about them is that it's funny how many stupid Pink Floyd fans have have aneurysms over the disco cover of their sacred hard rock classic.
Kiss You Off - Scissor Sisters
Speaking of bands who cause hard rock fans with no senses of humor to have aneurysms with their profane covers of sacred holy hard rock classics, I can't remember if I ever linked this video before... Hayseed Dixie - I Don't Feel Like Dancing Here's (The original by the Scissor Sisters for comparison.) Somehow I don't think Jake and company are upset that their song has been turned into a hillbilly bluegrass dance tune. ^_^
