Today's Song: Into A Frenzy by The Dreamside
So last night I checked out eMusic a bit. They're an unusual service, compared to iTunes. On the downside, they seem to be missing a lot of things -- relatively popular bands where they only have a few cds of theirs, and not the most recent release. On the upside, they have quite a lot of obscure music that I can't find on iTunes. They even had Rudra, the Singapore-based folk/death metal/vedic metal ("Hindu death metal" as I like to call them) band that I own a cd of, which I was only able to get by international order from the record company in Sri Lanka.
Also on the downside, their service is not easy to navigate or browse for new music, and when I click on a track to listen to the short demo piece it plays in iTunes -- they don't have their own music player built in -- and then iTunes goes on to play whatever is next on the list, which lead to a lot of "here's a short piece of goth metal, followed by Bing Crosby" type of juxtapositions.
I downloaded six songs to try out. One of the most promising is by a goth metal band that I've been curious about for a while but had never listened to -- The Dreamside. Now, I'm typing this from work so I'll have to check to see if they're available on iTunes once I get home, but I don't believe they are. So this may wind up being a Song of the Day that isn't on iTunes and I can't direct you to a free download of the song, but oh well. I made the rules, I guess I can also break them, and this is an interesting group. ^_^
Plus this is not only the song I downloaded but it's a Sailor Moon video as well. That's a win/win!
