Natacha Atlas is a European singer of Egyptian, Moroccan, and Palestinian background who performs solo and also as part of the band Transglobal Underground. Her music fuses Middle Eastern melodies and rhythms with Western dance music. Her cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkin's signature song I Put A Spell On You is one of my favorite takes on the song. ^_^
I did an "iMix" on iTunes last night, listing 20 of my favorite (strange/oddball) song covers, and I was reminded of this wonderful song, which is on iTunes, and which I hadn't featured as a song of the day yet. ^_^
