Today's Song: The First Nowell by Steeleye Span

Although I listed a Steeleye Span Christmas song as my song of the day just a few days ago, Gaudette was a song they did on one of their regular cds way back in the 1970's. Just a few years ago in 2004 they a full Christmas cd, which is another of those that I need to buy for myself one of these days. As with the Jethro Tull Christmas cd, I downloaded one of the Steeleye Span tracks from eMusic. I picked The First Nowell (spelled correctly, please note). They do a nice folk-rock cover of the song.

I already have a Maddy Prior Christmas cd that she did with the Carnival Band back in the 1990's, which has some of my favorite Christmas songs on it (their cover of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen is fantastic, and their Gabriel's Message is as good as the one Sting did in the early 1990's). I do love Maddy's voice so much.

Again -- no video to link to. Le sigh! Here's a different Steeleye Span video: Steeleye Span - Jack Hall
