...in Gene's Live Journal, I might as well post the exciting exploits of my fun-filled Saturday here too.

I played EQ all day. Then I went to bed.

Well, that's the short version. Here's a longer one:

Got up and logged onto Everquest almost immediately. I was going to just check some things out on my character and in the bazaar, but Silindryll saw me in just a few seconds and asked me to join a group she was forming. I've been trying to group with her and Brae for a long time, but weekends are the only really practicaly time to do it. I had to explain that I wasn't going to be on long, had stuff to do first, but I promised to be on in a couple of hours.

I showered, got ready, and hit my comic shop. I picked up four small $10 graphic novels (Love Hina, GTO, 5 and 6 of Mars). 1 Oh My Goddess comic. Vol. 3 of Excel Saga dvd, and also vol. 1 of Inu Yasha dvd. Spent waaaay to much money. Got some teriyaki chicken brocoli stir fry at Teriyaki Stop on way home.

I watched parts of the WSU Cougar game in between, and listened to the Huskies on the radio. Both won.

Then I logged onto EQ again. Sil and Brae were experience grinding in Jagged Pines, their group to the Tower of Frozen Shadow hadn't come together. I took the Plane of Knowledge express to Everfrost Peaks, then ran down through Blackburrow to Qeynos Hills, where I met Sil running back from having died. I followed her to where Brae and a monk were, in a cavern in the Jagged Pines. They were killing cave basilisks, which were not worth a lot of exp to me, but I hung out for a long time helping them anyway.

Tom came over and watched me play for a long time. He went to the store to get some food, and after that we watched Excel Saga and Inu Yasha, and Oh Brother Where Art Thou.

Inu Yasha rocks. This is a nicely animated version of the comic by Rumiko Takahashi (Ranma 1/2, Lum, Maison Ikkoku, Mermaid's Scar). Inu Yasha is her most recent work, and the best thing she's ever done -- a perfect mix of her horror and her comedy, and unlike earlier series she never repeats herself, manages to keep things fresh and interesting through 12 volumes that I've read so far. And the anime follows the manga storyline EXACTLY. How cool is that? It's a tightly plotted manga, so it's easy for them to do, but still you almost never see people actually do that when translating a work.

I was still feeling the EQ addiction after all that dvd watching, so I told Tom I was going to log back on. He still watched me for several hours, talking to me, wishing he could play EQ again. I spent most of the time soloing hill giants in Rathe Mts. and talking to another guy who was there quad kiting. We helped each other out a bit.

Quite the exciting life, yes?
