Today's Song: Now I Wanna Say Apologies to You by Hang on the Box

How can I resist a Chinese girl-band that takes its cues from the likes of Shonen Knife and Riot Grrl bands like Sleater-Kinney? Well, maybe I'm hearing things and other people would hear different influences, but the simple English lyrics are there ala Shonen Knife and the raw punk of a Sleater-Kinney is also present. Plus there are songs about food -- that's very much working in Shonen Knife territory. ^_^ I have to think that these girls have been listening to Japanese and Western girl groups, especially punk / riot grrl groups. And I'm pretty certain Sleater-Kinney has toured Japan at least -- they mention it in one of their songs I think.

I downloaded a song called I'm Not Sexy by Hang on the Box at first, with my plan to only download one song of theirs, but when I saw the video for Now I Wanna Say Apologies to You I had to go download that one as well. It's very catchy.
