Today's Song: Tricks by Second Hand Rose Band
After checking out the Chinese rock bands that appear in the documentary Beijing Bubbles, I read the Wikipedia article on Chinese rock and checked out some of the other bands that Wikipedia had articles on. I also checked out what was available on iTunes and downloaded several tracks. I found some very interesting bands that I'm going to feature over the next couple of days, including the first Chinese Visual Kei band, a band that combines Classical Chinese music with symphonic rock, and the Second Hand Rose Band, who mix Chinese folk music with rock. They feature some traditional Chinese instruments and, by the way, a cross-dressing lead singer.
Well, what more could you want? Mao Zedong must be spinning in his grave. ^_^
I downloaded three tracks of theirs from iTunes, including this one:
Second Hand Rose - Tricks
This is another track I downloaded from iTunes:
Second Hand Rose - Picking A Flower (Cai Hua)
